New Ways to Grow with IUBAAC!
IUBAAC is excited to announce two great ways for academic advisors to engage with the profession and strengthen their skills.
You can continue earning the IUBAAC Yearly Professional Development Certificate, or take your growth to the next level with the brand-new Advisor Certificate Program — designed by the IUBAAC Professional Development Committee.
This new program features three levels — Foundational, Intermediate, and Advanced — each offering a mix of experiences to help both new and seasoned advisors advance in their careers. You’ll find plenty of flexibility, with options that let you tailor your learning to your own interests and goals.
Build your certificate through a combination of IUBAAC events plus in-person and online opportunities from across IU campuses, regional or national organizations like NACADA, and resources such as LinkedIn Learning.
Advisors can earn:
- One Yearly Professional Development Certificate, and
- A maximum of one Leveled Advising Certificate per academic year (with up to two calendar years to complete each level).
We encourage advisors to talk with their supervisors or team members about professional development priorities and identify activities that best align with their goals.
Current advisors can transition smoothly into this new program by completing the Level 2 Intermediate Certificate or Level 3 Revisiting Foundational Level Certificate. Looking ahead, starting in 2026, the Level 3 Advanced Certificate can even be earned multiple times by exploring different specialization topics.
Details on certificate criteria and learning objectives — based on the NACADA Core Competencies — are outlined in the Canvas site.
